In most of the European countries where a lot of Ghanaians reside, the Ghananian misspageants have eveolved to the extent of being seen as a culture we have to follow. The miss Gnana belgoium was to introduce this act of culture which is missing for a long period of time in Blegium. It's also aimed at bringing out the beauty, the smartness, the intelligence and the talents of young Ghanaian ladies residing in Belgium to the light of Belgium, Ghana and the world as a whole.
Life itself seems to be difficult in so many ways, expectations for difficulties were not that much in the beginning. however, as time went on, we started to encounter some difficulties from many angles. Registration in the beginning was very tough. The use of computer and internet is common these days so we the organizers tried our possible best to create a website which contained a form to fill out online
Although our publication was very high, there were no registrations coming in. It came to a point whereby some people regsitered and after some few days redrew their regsiatration. This ocurred with more more than three diffrent girls on several ocassions.
The reason why people were hesitating quickly became clear and quite understandable. Initially we were only two male organizers. We found out that people were pulling back because they were doubting our intentions and interests of working with girls on the event.
Therefore we had to involve female organisers in order to take initiatives of getting the interest of girls to participate. When it comes to miss pageants, people immediately think about the "swimming costume section", that is the wearing of bra and slips
The Ghanaian community in Belgium is recently growing in Christianity, mostly the youth. So looking at that picture makes most parents not agree with their children when they show interest in participating. Due to the above fact of what people think when it comes to miss pageants, we the organizers decided to omit the beach wear section since our aim was based much on other things such as "beauty, smartness, intelligence, talents, etc." and not the exposure of the nudity of the girls. In this way, we all will be satisfied.
Six years ago, as a 19 year old living with my parents and siblings in our little suburb of Leuven, I became interested in the modelling world. Combining this together with my education, I was inspired to compete for the Miss Belgium 2009 crown. After this experience,I decided to further my education in the UK. In 2013, I will be a proud BA Advertising
